The Historic Legacy of Cuneta Astrodome

Kasaysayan ng Cuneta Astrodome: Tahanan ng Klasikong Basketbol sa Pasay

From its grand 1993 opening to epic PBA Governors’ Cup buzzer beaters, Manila Clasico battles, and 33 years of Philippine sports heritage.

Origins & The Cuneta Namesake

Opened in 1993, the Cuneta Astrodome was conceived by the City Government of Pasay to establish a modern, climate-controlled indoor arena for sports, civic assemblies, and national entertainment along the historic Roxas Boulevard corridor.

The facility was named in honor of Enrique Cuneta, prominent Pasay leader and the father of longtime Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta (and grandfather of megastar Sharon Cuneta). With an intimate capacity of 12,000 spectators, the venue brought fans closer to the hardwood court than massive open coliseums, creating an amphitheater acoustics cauldron legendary among opposing visiting teams.
